Sheila E. at Newport Hyatt

Definitely not the greatest quality recording, but blame that on the venue. This is mostly lower middle-class UI middle-class swinging singles trying to one up each other with their portfolios and their acquisitions (as well as trying to pick up). Even though the venue is tiny, I was still relegated to the last row. Regardless, I just had to start recording this because Sheila E was going off on somewhat of a 20 minute medley of Prince songs. It was pretty phenomenal and once-in-a-lifetime. Actually I'm seeing her again tonight so maybe I'll get a second in a lifetime sales. Regardless, enjoy.... Or at least try to enjoy above the din.

In Case You Couldn't Make It: Patti Smith performing Horses at the Wiltern 1/10/16

Patti put in a stellar performance at the Wiltern, which I captured here. She played the full "Horses", then a potpourri of songs. The capture is great in some parts and others flutter...but at least you can hear it. Sadly, David Bowie was not recognized on the "Elegie" tribute because he was still alive at the point. It was moving nonetheless.

Rodney on the ROQ Bowie birthday tribute/memorial (with Elvis)

Every year in the first two weeks of the year, Rodney does his David Bowie/Elvis birthday tribute. This year, seeing as how David Bowie passed away on the day that the show was going to be broadcast, it is also a memorial tribute to David Bowie and his genius. Rodney has deep history with Bowie, so his show is always a treasure to listen to.
