I was at the Michael Franti show last year and it was a stellar performance as always. I recorded a couple tracks. One, his song "Back Of A Greyhound Bus" which he discussed was written for his son who had left home to start living his adult life. Also, I got about a minute of his tribute to Prince, "Purple Rain".
Here's another one that has been sitting on my drive for a while. Gilbert Gottfried (purveyor of all that is raunchy, tasteless, and indecent) was at the Irvine improv in April 2013 and I was there. Here is the whole uncensored and hilarious performance. Not for everyone, he's an acquired taste I warn you.
Elvis Costello made a solo stop at the historic Ace Hotel theater on his tour of 2016. it was a one-man multimedia show talking about his life through pictures and music and stories. He was promoting his new (at the time) book, “Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink.” I captured it here with the best sound you can get out of that cavernous hall. Enjoy!
I have a few other Elvis shows available on the blog if you search.
The infamous DJ Rodney Binghenheimer will no longer be doing his show on KROQ. I have captured his final show and, lucky for you, edited out all the commercials. This is an amazing show that is a testament to his influence. There are a lot of call in guests that are very interesting so you will want to hear all 3 hours 45 minutes. I even left in his theme, which I usually cut out, because...well, it won't be played on KROQ anymore. (Brian Wilson is gonna have to come up with something that rhymes with"Sirius"..delirious?). Enjoy! Who knows where he will end up next…
This is a real treat… Jonesy had Anton Newcombe, lead Singer of Brian Jonestown Massacre on his legendary rule breaking show Jones’s jukebox on KLOS of all places. I am sure a large majority of the stations demographic would only know the group from “Boardwalk Empire”. Enjoy!
Legends of the OC scene in the 80's, Electric Cool Aide reunited for one night only at the Wayfarer, and Ruhtf was there to capture it for you. I haven't seen any record of the show online save for one youtube video, so live (or re-live) the show here.
This was isolated from the radio interview that we did on KUCI. While plugged in and amplified, the Tramps had amazing power to blow anyone off the stage, acoustically they are just as amazing. This is more proof.
Starting with an acoustic Black Flag cover, they then do "They Don't Want Truth", affectionately known as "Radio Song"

The great Gabby Gaborno has left us, but his music, and the memories, never will. This was the last show the Tramps played at Alex's Bar October 6, 2016, sounding just as fresh and relevant as the early days, but with a new purpose, to help Gabby rock out his last days. This show was both life-affirming and triumphant, so enjoy what I captured of the show.
